星期三，惠玲对我说的话，一直困扰着我。这两天都没睡好，因为想很多。唉。为什么升上大学，生活就好像变得复杂许多？为什么要面对那么多感情的问题？
傍晚，我约了Ah Toot在学校附近的一家快餐店见面。一定要和他说清楚。说什么？我也不知道。只想知道他心里是怎么想的。那我的心里又是怎么想的呢？我也不知道。
来到快餐店，我看见Ah Toot已经先到了，坐在一个安静的角落，双手握着手机，好像在传简讯。
“欸，你到了。我正想SMS告诉你我坐在这个角落。你想吃什么，喝什么，我帮你买。”
Ah Toot叫了食物和饮料，我们就一如往常地边吃边聊天。Ah Toot应该没料到，接下来我会问他一些很难问，也很难回答的问题吧。吃东西的时候，我努力的想要怎样开口。可是，想来想去，就是想不到一个好方法。
我的视线不经意地落在餐桌上。看见Ah Toot的黑色皮革钱包，已经破旧不堪了。欸，这个钱包，怎么看起来那么熟悉？哦！是Ah Toot在念中学时用的钱包！
“喂，你缺钱用啊？钱包用了那么多年也不换一个新的？”我一面说，一面伸手过去把Ah Toot的钱包拿过来仔细察看。
Ah Toot突然很慌张，正要站起身扑过来把钱包从我手中抢回去，但，他来不及阻止，我已经打开钱包，看见里面的东西了。
是一张照片。中三那年，我和Ah Toot分手那天，在东海岸公园的一个亭子里，我们合拍的照片。
Ah Toot把钱包拿了回去，放进口袋里。我的双手还是保持着拿钱包的姿势。很惊讶，一时之间动弹不得。我们沉默了好久，好久。
Ah Toot: “你…怎么不说话了？”
我想，这就是我问清楚一切的机会吧。“我们这么多年前拍的照片，你还收着？”
Ah Toot: “嗯。照片很珍贵嘛。我们唯一的单独合照。”
芬：“我们…算是朋友吗？”
Ah Toot听了我的问题，欲言又止。
我也真是的，竟然在这么严肃的时刻，突然联想到一个电视游戏节目《百万大赢家》…

到了这个地步，该说什么？我喜欢他吗？我…爱他吗？思绪很混乱，没办法肯定。认识这么多年，我应该有一些些喜欢他吧？但，爱？那应该是一个怎样的感觉？如果我爱他，面对他我应该有怎样的心情？
“都是你的错啦。不要那么鸡婆，拿我的钱包来看，就不会那么尴尬了。”
“对不起。我…不是故意的。”还有呢？我不可能只说这个吧？人家说了那么一大段感人肺腑的话，而我，只说这么一句？
Ah Toot: “好了啦。这些复杂又无聊的事，不要再想了，OK？我要回去赶报告了，走吧。”
回去宿舍的路上，我们异常沉默。不是没话好说，而是，有很多话想说，但不知从何说起。我心里很想知道Ah Toot和Sammie之间发生的事情，但要怎么问呢？我也很想告诉他，其实，我很在乎他，不能想象没有他这个朋友，但，我不懂这算不算爱情。
我希望，他能再给我多一点时间。

I wonder why is it so difficult to find a girlfriend that fulfils my criteria?
My criteria is very simple- not based on looks or figures but on inner beauty!
So far, 5 have failed!
While it is true that looks and figures are considered ‘bonuses’, they are not the decisive factors! Inner beauty is considered the basic fundamental!
The story is about the love between a girl and an angel. Afraid that the angel might fall in love with another girl and thus leave her. The girl wakes up at night and hides his pair of wings. When the angel wakes up in the morning, he was very angry with the girl. He managed to find his wings and leave the girl. The ending is of course a happy one as in all fairy tales!
To me, this story is a thought- provoking one. Afraid that the angel might leave her, the girl hides his pair of wings. Without the wings, the angel will not be able to fly away but he can still walk away because he still has a pair of legs! Then is the girl going to take away his pair of legs? Without his legs, the angel can still escape! He can crawl on the ground using his pair of hands! Then is the girl going to chop off his arms as well? If the girl really did that, well, the angel will be hers for life! Why?
It is because the angel will die of excessive bleeding!
In fact, out of the 5 who failed, one of them (who go by the initials KK and the name _elly _ong) was not bad-looking and has a figure that is not too bad either, but unfortunately, she has an ugly heart!
It doesn’t matter whether you are driving a sports car or a saloon car, because when you are stuck in a traffic jam, it became a stationary car!
It doesn’t matter whether the girl has good looks and nice figure, because when she has an ugly heart, it is an outright failure!
Beside her, another two people were involved in this matter. They are the two ATs.
The first one (who goes by the initials AT and the name _deline _an) plays the role of supporter.
The second one (who goes by the initials AT or KH and the name _ndy _an) plays the role of supporter and instigator. He actively stir up the sentiments of the abovementioned person (who go by the initials KK and the name _elly _ong), agitating the person to take drastic actions, effectively using the person as a tool to achieve his own selfish aims.
While a person could spend a lifetime with the person of his/her desire, he/she can’t spend a lifetime with a wild beast! Even if you are both registered with ROM and applied for a HDB flat, you should do the right thing and forfeit the deposit for the flat rather than choosing to spend a lifetime with a wild beast!
As for the wild beast, he will no doubt suffer a double loss!

I tink da tou fen likes Ah Toot, but maybe she doesn't realise it, and maybe she tinks there might be sth going on between Sammi and Ah Toot, so subconsciously, she is backing off? few yrs ago, a very gd friend said he like me but i rejected him. like dtf afraid that i will lose a friend. so i said "can we be jus friend". a yr later i could feel he still like me, i tried not to get too close to him. in the end our friendship seem to be jus say hi, hello, happy birthday. from sms to just e-mail.

Perhaps the people living in Potong Pasir and Hougang are consisted entirely of PRs and foreigners.
After all, we need to treat our citizens better!
In Singapore, we have a government which is really firm, stout-hearted, subtle and resolute.
Thus no Singapore citizen will be subjected to a witch-hunt!

In Singapore, the ‘unofficial’ age discrimination for workers begins at 40. If an individual desires to continue working after the official retirement age of 62, he/ she will have to take a cut in terms of pay and employer CPF contribution.
All these don’t apply to the ministers.
Perhaps the ministers would like to consider converting to the CPF scheme.
“How does that happen? Why can’t the 1.3 million people get jobs in their own countries?”
Some PMEBs and older workers (those aged 40 and above) remained unemployed!
“It must be something that we’re doing which is right, that creates economic prosperity, that creates growth, that requires talented people to join us, to help us produce all these extra goods and services.”
Besides that, we also have higher GST.

By itself, Shin Corp’s stake in iTV is worth tens of millions of dollars. If it is not lost, it could cover the wages bill of $46 million for at least a year!

“You know fund managers? I’m chairman of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) and we put $5 billion, $10 billion with top fund managers, just to benchmark how we are performing against the best in the market.”
Perhaps Temasek Holdings (TH) should consider following. After all, GIC is known as ‘a very proper and correct organization’.
“We have about three or four top US investors and we track what they do and we compare what we are doing.”
Perhaps TH should also consider doing so. After all, GIC is known as ‘a very proper and correct organization’.
“And you have to pay them not 0.13 per cent. Win or lose, whether the stocks go up or down, they take their cut. You ask GIC employees; I’m the chairman of GIC. I am sure that the members of TH management have already received their salaries for 2006. Whether they received bonuses as well, I do not know.

So far, paper losses on the Shin Corp deal amount to over a billion dollars while realized losses, in the form of iTV, amount to tens of millions of dollars.
“So for the average family earning $1,500, $3,000, we are talking of astronomical figures.”
For those unemployed PMEBs and older workers (those aged 40 and above), they should be grateful if they are offered a chance to earn $1,500!
“But for people in government like me, having to deal with these sums of money which we have accumulated through the sweat of our brow over the last 40 years, you have to pay the market rate or the man will up stakes and join Morgan Stanley or Lehman Brothers or Goldman Sachs. And then you’ve got an incompetent man and you’ve lost money, by the billions.”
The experience and knowledge gained while an individual works in the public sector might not necessarily be useful to the private sector.
Once upon a time, PSA was offered an opportunity to take a strategic stake in PTP. It didn’t do so. Why?
It is because the offer was vetoed by an individual. That individual happens to be an ex-minister!
“So get a sense of proportion.”
Mr T.T Durai was paid an annual salary of S$300,000 but he managed to help NKF raise millions of dollars in donations. One of his peers, paid himself an annual salary of over S$200K but he couldn’t raise even a million dollar in donations for his organization.
If you were the decision maker of a similar organization which intend to hire a CEO, who would you choose? The answer is obvious to all!
Thus Mrs Goh Chok Tong is right in making the ‘peanuts’ remark.
Unlike him, some individuals- who are making at least four times as much as him- are still not contented with their lot and have been pressing their claims for higher pay!
Perhaps we should encourage Mr Durai to send in his job application!
A few decades ago, although people live in squatter huts with holes in the ground as toilets, lives were much simple. Nowadays, people lives in high-rise buildings with electricity, running water and lifts but some people behave like wild beasts as though they are living in high-rise zoos!
I believe that many Singaporeans, including myself, have many questions to ask.
These questions include:
What did the relevant government agencies make ‘half-hearted attempts’ in trying to get the old management of NKF to comply with their ‘requests’?
Why did Mr Gerald Ee and the members of the new management of NKF ‘spare’ Mr Alwyn Lim from the NKF civil lawsuit when it was clear to all (during the proceedings) that he was ‘heavily involved’ in the old management of NKF?
Why didn’t Mr Gerald Ee and the members of the new management of NKF sue the relevant government agencies for ‘half- negligent’ since they make ‘half-hearted attempts’ in trying to get the old management of NKF to comply with their ‘requests’?
What benefits did Singapore derive from hosting IMF/ World Bank Meeting in 2006?
For the PTP deal, the PSA boat rocked so ‘violently’ that it threw an individual overboard. For the Shin Corp deal, why did the TH boat remain so ‘stable’?
It would be best if the government could launch a formal investigation in order to answer these questions!
All these questions might seem to add up to a crisis, but it is actually an opportunity in disguise!
After all, it would allow the Australians to judge the Singapore government on its governance and not on human rights!
“Popular government does not mean you have to be popular when you govern. All it means is at the end of your term, you would have done all the unpopular things that were necessary to get you where you have to go. And you get there and you’re successful and everybody’s better off.”
Thus no matter how tough and unpopular the task is, the government will have to do it so that we will have a stable and happy nation!

Are you sick and tired of being a door- opener?
When you get your miserable increase in pay, the ministers, as a result of piggy- backing on you, get a huge increase in their salaries!
Unfortunately, the elections have already been held in 2006. Thus, most of the Singaporeans will not be able to do anything about it!
While most of us can’t do anything about it, you can!
You can send a clear signal on behalf of all Singaporeans!
You can do so by making a donation to charities. You need not provide any personal particulars to the charities, just remember to state that you are a civil servant/ public sector employee. That’s all you need to do.
The rationale for suggesting this is simple. If thousands of you are known to be making a donation to charities, it will attract the attention of the local media.
By that time, you will be able to make your point!
Also, after the NKF debacle, the charities are in need of funds that have largely ceased to flow in from the members of public as a result of public anger over the NKF debacle.
Thus, this is a suggestion that will ‘kill two birds with one stone’!

哈哈，好可爱的大头芬，我想应该是因为不懂要怎么表达自己所以胡思乱想起来。我看也只有啊toot知道她的傻乎乎型吧。。。
不过大头芬还是没办法弄清楚自己该以什么身份面对啊toot。也很难吧，要抉择做好朋友还是做情人。你说你很在乎他，这是一种依赖，算是感情吧，敢敢说出你的心里话吧!! :)

several years ago i remember flag day or can donations only happen once a year.and now dont know since when it become a weekly thingy of every sat without fail any organisation,school etc will be all around Singapore begging for coins.
lol i seriously wonder,if so many need help or donation,i also need man.so who donate or help me?
charity by tv shows even more crappy and ironic funny.everytime sure to perform risky things to gain sympathy in order to raise funds,without risky business and efforts do they really think they can fork out such big money or hit the target after the so call NKF saga?

peifen, am totally touched by what ah-toot said to datoufen, to the extent that i almost felt my tears drop. in our society now, it is almost impossible to be able to meet a guy such as ah toot: honest, mature, knows what he wants, sensitive and caring. datoufen has to decide what ah-toot really means to her, whether he is just a friend or can the friendship grow into something else.
confessing love for someone is a risky thing to do, as it will risk the friendship turning cold if it is not mutual. ah-toot did a brave thing cos i think it's a difficult thing for a guy to do. girls may try to be bolder and do the same too, but it does not necessary be a good thing. the last thing a girl wants to do is to be labeled as desperate...well, this is just my personal opinion, i'm sure there are people who feel otherwise. unrequited love is emotionally stressful. but there's not much choice but to wait and see it love blossoms in a friendship which one treasures. if one chooses to come clear, it's a risk and he/she will have to face the fact that the friendship is at stake. sigh...
reading your story, i subconsciously found myself wishing to be in datoufen's shoes, to have such a wonderful guy looking out for her, though it's a little far fetched for me.... oh well.
